Project Brief
The Des Moines Rowing Club (DMRC) and Drake Rowing Club currently share a modest boat storage facility. Looking to expand both their operations, the program called for a boathouse that could store twice the capacity of their current boats, and allow for further expansion. Located within a floodplain, the building needed to respond to floodwater.

Project Description
Reinterpreting the movement of rowers helped to create a continuous façade and building parti that follows a central datum line. The rhythm of modular bays add to the simple building form. Programmatic spaces are placed on the upper level above the flood-line.
